Turning the Tide Against Cancer 2014 National Conference
The Personalized Medicine Coalition, the American Association for Cancer Research, and Feinstein Kean Healthcare convened the second Turning the Tide Against Cancer Through Sustained Medical Innovation national conference on October 9, 2014 in Washington, D.C., to continue the ongoing dialogue around potential policy solutions that align with scientific advances and support innovation, while addressing the issue of rising health care costs.
The conference brought together 200+ leaders from across the cancer community to help identify specific policy solutions to the challenges of:
- Supporting the Shift to Patient-Centered Cancer Research and Care: This discussion will focus on identifying ways to best support patient-centeredness and patient engagement as part of optimal cancer research and care, including the use of tools that engage patients in a meaningful way and support informed decision-making.
- Addressing the Value and Cost of Cancer Care: This discussion will focus on issues related to value and cost in cancer care, including ways to modify tools for assessing value of treatments and technologies so that they better align with patient preferences and consider the way value changes over time.
